Your actions are part of something bigger

In the 2018 Department of Food Agriculture and Rural Development paper on behaviour change, they concluded from research that people want to know that:
- That they are ‘part’ of something
- That other people are taking action, so collectively their actions will have an impact
So how does a campaign achieve this?
Social proof and feedback loops… showing other people are acting and the impact of actions.
In Valencia the city has nailed this with bicycle counters around the city. They don’t have carbon savings as of course its not clear how far everyone is travelling, but what a great way to feel like you are part of something bigger.
Where else could these type of simple counters be used to make people’s pro-environmental behaviours more visible?
